Teen Receives Settlement from Car Accident Injury
No matter the age of the plaintiff, if there is personal injury involved, there should be a settlement on their behalf.
Take the case, for instance, of high school student, Cody McEntire, who was injured in an October 2013 motor vehicle collision in Jefferson County. His case was settled for $150,000.
McEntire, who was 16 at the time, was a front-seat passenger in a 2002 Chevrolet Impala driven by 18-year-old Darren Paul Deichler of De Soto when the teen driver attempted to turn left onto southbound U.S. 61 while at a Guenzler Drive stop sign, according to a state Highway Patrol accident report.
Three witnesses told troopers that Deichler failed to yield to a 2009 Mitsubishi Galant traveling in the inner, left lane and driven by Crystal Reeves, 26, of St. Louis.
Deichler, McEntire, a second passenger and a passenger in Reeves’ car were taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital to treat their injuries.
McEntire’s attorney said his client suffered injuries to his head and knee as well as sustaining upper and lower jaw fractures, requiring metal plates and screws surgically implanted and removed after six weeks. McEntire subsisted on a liquid diet and lost 30 pounds, according to his attorney.
If there is a case, no matter the age, it should be settled. Always seek professional counsel.
